Speaker Laurie Punch, MD, presents a unique perspective on gun violence as a public health epidemic. Dr. Punch is a trauma surgeon at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She is also an associate professor at Washington University in St. Louis, president of Power 4STL, and has been a crucial aspect in bringing the “Stop the Bleed” campaign to communities at risk for violence in St. Louis. Her passion for medicine and ending violence has led to a career with a three-fold focus: bullet injury, emergency surgery, and education.
